Labrador Ferry Schedules Announced for 2006
Posted 16 January 2006, 2:49 pm NST
Trevor Taylor, Minister of Transportation and Works, today released the schedule for the 2006 Labrador Marine Coastal Service.

"Businesses, tourists and residents depend on the Labrador marine service," said Minister Taylor. "Our government is committed to the provision of convenient and cost-effective transportation service for this region. This pledge is reflected in the early release of the ferry schedule."

Tourism, Culture and Recreation Minister Tom Hedderson says the continued early release of the ferry schedule is beneficial to the province's tourism industry."There continues to be a demand for the Labrador Marine Service by tourists who want to experience the beauty this area offers.

"Once again, the early release of the schedule allows travelers to get a head-start on their vacation plans. The earlier they can access information on ferry schedules, the sooner they can make plans to travel in our province," added Minister Hedderson.

Paul Shelley, Minister responsible for Labrador Affairs, added that he is very pleased with this announcement. "Transportation is an overriding issue facing Labrador," said Minister Shelley. "I welcome improvements such as the early release of this ferry schedule."

Following last year's initiative, once again the schedule is available earlier than in past years, in order to benefit those who rely on the ferry service.
