Festival Agenda
Friday, August 12th

7:00 pm: Opening Ceremonies [$5]
The evening starts at 7:00 pm with opening ceremonies. Lots of music and entertainment including Forteau Players Concert and a Square Dance with music by Ches Hancock.

10:00 pm: Teenage Dance (Forteau Community Centre) [$5]
Teenage dance will be held at Forteau Community Centre. There will also be a barbecue and fireworks.

Saturday, August 13th

Kids' Day at the Festival
The Labrador Straits Youth Centre will be providing a variety of games such as bouncy castle, balloon darts, bean bag tosses, etc., as well as some new and exciting games. There will be balloons and cotton candy continuing through the weekend. This year's children's entertainment features Jazzy John.

Display Booths
Booths will display local cultures and unique local foods.

9:30 pm: Adult Dance (The Zipliners. Special Appearance by Kellie Loder)
Happy Hour 9-11 pm. Buckets of beer, giveaways and specials all through the night. Admission is $5 before 11 pm and $10 after 11 pm (not included with purchase of Festival armband). Bar service available. Must be 19+ years of age to attend.

Sunday, August 14th

1:00 pm: Annual Folk Festival
Enjoy local talent being showcased all afternoon in a comfortable atmosphere. Special appearance by Mr. Stewart Letto. Enjoy an indoor family picnic with us while we wind down our weekend.
 
Special Events
Bakeapple Breakfast (Seaview Restaurant, Forteau)
8:00-11:00 am on Saturday, August 13th
Becoming a tradition in itself, the Seaview Restaurant's Bakeapple Breakfast features pancakes, crepes and waffles with our very own bakeapples, syrups and spreads.

Rubber Ducky Race
Sunday, Aug. 14 during the Folk Festival there will be a Rubber Ducky Race. Ducks available for purchase. Prize is a trip for one, compliments of Air Labrador.

Bouncy Castle
Saturday, Aug. 13 there will be a Bouncy Castle ready to enjoy, along with many other games and activities during Kids Day at the Festival.
 
Features
Our pride and love of Labrador has been celebrated for the past 32 years at our annual Bakeapple Folk Festival. We spend three days and two nights each summer remembering and practicing our unique Labrador traditions through music, dance, crafts, games and food native to the Labrador Straits region.

Local Musical Artists
Starting at 1:30 pm Sunday, a variety of local artists will perform. Along with local artists, we are pleased to have special guest Mr. Stewart Letto Sr. join us for the afternoon. The afternoon will be filled with a wide variety of folk music and traditional Newfoundland and Labrador songs as well as some country and western music.

Local Craftspeople
Our local artists and craftspeople proudly exhibit their work at the Festival site throughout the weekend. Come and enjoy tole painting, handmade clothing and apparel, pottery and much, much more.

Unique Local Foods
Local foods are available from Friday through Sunday. Enjoy moose burgers, soup, fish and brewis, a variety of Bakeapple desserts and more.

Genuine Arts & Crafts
Our local artists and craft makers will have many items displayed for sale: a great opportunity to get that special gift item.
 
Prizes / Admission Fees
Two prizes will be awarded during the festival:
- Trip for one (Prize for Rubber Ducky Race). Provided by Air Labrador.
- Trip for one anywhere PAL flies. Provided by Provincial Airlines Limited.

A festival wristband ($5/Adult, $3/Child) provides admission to all events except those listed below:
